Anna Faris reveals joke about Melania Trump was too brutal for ‘Scary Movie’

Actress Anna Faris is officially back as Cindy Campbell in the long-awaited Scary Movie 6, but one of her most controversial jokes never made it to the final cut.

During a recent interview with Dexerto, Faris revealed that a politically charged joke aimed at Melania Trump was considered too harsh for inclusion in the movie.

The revelation has sparked discussions among fans of the legendary comedy franchise, which has built its reputation on pushing boundaries and parodying celebrities, politicians, blockbuster films, and pop-culture moments.

The Joke That Didn’t Survive the Final Edit

According to Faris, she envisioned Cindy Campbell falling into what she described as a “classic MAGA rabbit hole” during one sequence.

“The kind of person that you saw outside of Walmart during quarantine that was raising some kind of crazy-ass fuss,” Faris explained.

In the deleted scene, Cindy becomes heavily intoxicated while sitting in her truck and delivers a line inspired by Melania Trump’s well-known anti-bullying campaign, Be Best.

“I look into the rearview mirror and I say, ‘Be best, Cindy Campbell. Be best.’ That didn’t make it, but I liked my little winking there,” Faris said.

Although the joke was ultimately removed, Faris suggested that working on the film gave her creative freedom to embrace controversial humor.

“You know, what are you gonna do? You gonna be mad at Cindy? I’m in a movie that is truly the most offensive movie ever made, and I’m the lead of it. And I participate in offensive ideas. I think I can kind of do anything. It liberated me,” she added.

A Major Return for the Scary Movie Franchise

The return of Anna Faris has been one of the biggest talking points surrounding Scary Movie 6. Many longtime fans consider Cindy Campbell the heart of the franchise, making her comeback a significant moment for the series.

The original Scary Movie became a cultural phenomenon after its release in 2000. Produced by Keenen Ivory Wayans and starring Faris alongside Regina Hall, the film parodied popular horror movies while delivering outrageous comedy that helped define an era of spoof films.

Over the years, the franchise generated hundreds of millions of dollars in worldwide box office revenue and established Faris as one of Hollywood’s leading comedy stars.

Box Office Success Continues

Despite mixed critical reactions, Scary Movie 6 has proven to be a commercial success.

The film reportedly earned approximately $55 million during its opening weekend, placing it at the top of the domestic box office rankings. Industry analysts say the strong performance demonstrates the continued appeal of nostalgia-driven franchises in today’s entertainment market.

Movie studios have increasingly relied on established intellectual property, remakes, and franchise revivals as streaming competition intensifies across platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, and Max.

Fans React Online

Following Faris’s comments, social media users quickly debated whether the deleted Melania Trump joke should have remained in the movie.

Some fans argued that the Scary Movie franchise has always been known for controversial humor and celebrity satire, while others felt the joke may have distracted from the film’s broader comedic focus.

Regardless of opinion, the discussion has generated significant online engagement and renewed interest in the franchise.

What’s Next for Anna Faris?

The success of Scary Movie 6 has reignited interest in Anna Faris’s career. Industry observers are already speculating about potential future sequels and whether Faris could continue reprising her iconic role.

For now, the actress appears pleased with her return to the franchise that launched her Hollywood journey more than two decades ago.

And while audiences may never see the deleted Melania Trump scene, Faris’s comments have ensured that the joke has become one of the most talked-about moments surrounding the film’s release.
